International Friendship Centre

The International Friendship Centre exists to offer friendship and help, as Christian witness to people from other countries who live in the Hinckley area.  It is open to people of all cultures and faiths from 12 noon to 2pm on Mondays and Thursdays except on Bank Holidays and during the month of August.

The Centre provides a welcome with free drinks and snacks and conversation for folk who are a long way from their home in other lands, and their children are very welcome, too.  For anyone who wants it, there are more focused English language classes designed to improve vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar.  Several of the Centre volunteers have teaching qualifications, including two with long experience of ESOL teaching.

As well as friendship and English conversation, the Centre is pleased to help with other issues, too: immigration and housing problems, school admission forms, driving theory tests, and others.  We also arrange social events from time to time: country walks and restaurant meals, for example. The International Friendship Centre is a project set up in partnership between members of Hinckley URC and the Living Rock Church in Stoney Stanton.  The Management Committee meets monthly to pray and to plan how to respond to the various needs of the people who come.  For further information call the church office.
